Low Vitamin D levels may increase metabolic syndrome risk

Richard Renton and Sheila Oien on Tonight's call

4th of July Team Building BBQ

Low Vitamin D levels may increase metabolic syndrome risk

Insufficient and deficient levels of Vitamin D may increase the risk of metabolic syndrome according to a new joint study.

According to findings published in Diabetes Care, a study with 3,262 Chinese people aged between 50 and 70, showed that 94 per cent were Vitamin D deficient or insufficient, and 42 per cent of these people also had metabolic syndrome.

“Vitamin D deficiency is becoming a condition that is causing a large burden of disease across the globe with particular deleterious impact among the elderly,” said researcher Dr. Oscar Franco from Warwick Medical School in England.

While the study was conducted in elderly Chinese People, Dr. Franco said the results were consistent with findings of other studies in Western populations, and he suggested Vitamin D deficiency could become a global health problem.

4th of July Team Building BBQ

Create a sense of unity by inviting your team members and their families to a backyard BBQ. This is a great way to help build, solidify, and recognize your team's efforts.

Here is a simple plan to help get your "Team Building BBQ" going:

• Have everyone bring a dish to make preparation easy.
• Set aside some time to recognize the spouses and children of your team members.
• Add a little humor - present a "TV Dinner Award" to the spouse of the team member who held the most meetings during the previous month. Take this opportunity to also let all of the spouses know their support is crucial to their partner's success.
• Make the kids feel special too, by presenting each with a special ribbon. Many of you already hold Team Building BBQs at various times throughout the year, and many of you may be thinking of starting this tradition. The upcoming 4th of July holiday may be the perfect time to plan or get a Team Building BBQ tradition started.

I know Dr. Wallach will be having his annual 4th of July BBQ at a local park. Everyone brings a dish and Doc grills up the hamburgers. It is a great time for everyone and gives us a chance to meet one on one and discuss key plans and share ideas with our Youngevity® distributors. I, for one, never miss it! If you would like to attend Dr. Wallach’s 4th of July BBQ please see his schedule for July for more information.

On that note - A reminder: the Youngevity® USA Corporate Office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day. Normal office hours will resume again on Monday, July 6th.

Happy 4th of July Everyone!
